Keep yourself in the Love of God
JARED PATRICK BOYD
If the central role of an apprentice of Jesus is to join God's mission in the world, the most important experience one can have is the experience of the love of God. In this session, Jared Boyd will focus on Jude's instruction for us to "keep [our]selves in the love of God" (1:21) as our primary disposition as disciples of Jesus. He'll then trace this theme through the monastic tradition (including John Cassian, St. Ignatius of Loyola and Bernard of Clairvaux) to demonstrate that keeping ourselves in the love of God alone allows the active work of mission to be fueled by God's own love. Our models of discipleship and formation should be focused on the participatory work of keeping oneself in the love of God.
