Empowering your Church for Advocacy

WSD

MICHELLE WARREN

The work of advocacy is not mission drift for the Church but rather a deeper, intentional step into the work of kingdom justice. Injustice does not just happen and it does not repair itself. Learning how and leaning into disrupting the status quo of unrighteousness and injustice enables the Church to move from loving those impacted by injustice beyond words and speech, towards action and truth. Until justice flows easily down like a river and righteousness like a never ending stream, the people of God must ready themselves to pick up the mantles handed down to them and do the intentional work of stepping in and joining the resistance.

From the prophets of old to Jesus, the God-man prophet who came to usher in His kingdom, we stand on the shoulders of a legacy of faithful champions who disrupted the status quo. Through present day case studies on faith leaders engaging the Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation Commission, this workshop will provide the theological grounding for public justice as well as practical skills to equip the church to lean into the important, necessary work of systemic restoration.
